Kitayama Cedar Round Table

Kitayama cedar is a beautifully polished wood traditionally produced in the northern part of Kyoto City since the Muromachi period. It is known for its naturally textured surface beneath the bark and has long been favored in sukiya architecture, especially for use in tokobashira (alcove posts) and beams, particularly during the height of the tea ceremony's influence.

This Kitayama furniture series was created by the French design studio Garnier et Linker, inspired by the unique character of Kitayama cedar. It is a furniture collection that blends the traditional charm of this historic material with a refined, modern aesthetic.
