Karakami is a type of traditional Japanese decorative paper made using a technique similar to woodblock printing, using wooden blocks intricately carved with various patterns.
Historically used as fusuma (sliding door) paper to enrich Japanese interiors, karakami is now widely embraced in modern spaces as wallpaper, interior fittings, and lampshades.
We offer full customization, including paper color, printing color, and original pattern designs. Please feel free to contact us with any inquiries.
[Meaning of the Pattern]
This pattern is inspired by designs found on blue-and-white porcelain (gosu-e) passed down in the Nakamon family. It features motifs such as Chinese children playing in bamboo groves, dragons, auspicious creatures, and marine life like crabs and shrimp — all symbols of good fortune and prosperity for future generations.
