Karakami is a type of traditional Japanese decorative paper created using a technique similar to woodblock printing. It is made using wooden blocks intricately carved with various patterns.
Traditionally used as fusuma (sliding door) paper to decorate Japanese interiors, karakami is now also widely utilized in modern spaces as wallpaper, architectural elements, and lampshades.
We offer full customization, including paper color, printing color, and even original pattern designs. Please feel free to contact us with any inquiries.
[Meaning of the Pattern]
This pattern is inspired by the decorative motifs used in Manshuin Temple, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. Chrysanthemums were introduced from China during the Nara period as medicinal herbs. It was believed that drinking water infused with chrysanthemums would promote longevity. This design expresses wishes for long life and good health.
