Karakami is a traditional Japanese decorative paper made using a technique similar to woodblock printing, created with wooden blocks carved with a variety of patterns.
Traditionally used as fusuma (sliding door) paper to enhance Japanese living spaces, karakami is now also widely utilized in modern interiors as wallpaper, architectural accents, and lampshades.
We offer full customization, including paper color, printing color, and original pattern designs. Please feel free to contact us for inquiries.
[Meaning of the Pattern]
This pattern is a stylized representation of decayed wood or worm-eaten boards. It generally features vertically flowing motifs, but when positioned horizontally, it resembles clouds—a variation known as kuchiki (decayed wood). Such designs are often used in Shinto shrine festivals and rituals.
