Karakami is a traditional Japanese decorative paper created using techniques similar to woodblock printing. Patterns are applied to paper using wooden printing blocks carved with a variety of intricate designs.
Historically used as fusuma (sliding door) paper to decorate Japanese living spaces, karakami is now also widely used in modern interiors—as wallpaper, architectural fittings, and lampshades.
We offer customization of both paper color and printing color, and can also create original designs upon request. Please feel free to contact us for more details.
About the Pattern
The horizontal stripe pattern is known as “T-shaped” or “suji” lines. These lines are named according to their thickness—such as ichibu-suji, sanbu-suji, or issun-suji. Within their simplicity, the patterns convey both a sense of refined order and gentle elegance.
